SUNTEC Singapore International Convention & Exhibition Centre will be a hub for activities at next year's inaugural Youth Olympic Games (YOG).

It will host six sports - boxing, fencing, judo, taekwon-do, wrestling and handball - as well as exhibitions for the Games' Culture and Education Programme.

Selected mainly for its top-class facilities and easy accessibility, Suntec is also one of only two venues to hold both YOG sporting events and the Culture and Education Programme. The other venue is *scape Youth Space.

"I think this would be a good challenge to Suntec and a good opportunity for us to show our flexibility and quality of infrastructure that we have," said Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports Vivian Balakrishnan, during yesterday's announcement of Suntec Singapore as YOG sponsors.

"It's right in the heart of town and, with the six sporting events it is hosting, we are very sure this would be a good experience for the athletes, officials and spectators."

Suntec expects 8,000 to 10,000 visitors daily during the YOG, and has already made plans to dedicate the entire convention centre to the Games.
